Boris right to reject EU’s punishment

It should be plain to everyone now that the EU’s blatant refusal to discuss changes to its Withdrawal Agreement ultimatum confirms that their intention was always to punish us for leaving and deter other nations from doing the same.

Those now plotting to overturn the EU referendum result, undermine our democracy and forfeit our rights as a sovereign nation should remember that in 1940 a large faction in Parliament with similar aims and demanding a peace pact with Germany was defeated by Churchill’s famous Never Surrender speech. We can only hope that Boris can do the same and ‘mobilise the English language and march it into battle’ as Winston was credited with doing all those years ago! Roy Daniels, Luton
