THREE new boys announced their arrivals in style to give Macclesfie­ld victory. On their home debuts, Theo Archibald struck a beauty to put Sol Campbell’s side ahead and, after Paddy Osadebe had made it two, Theo Vassell sealed victory late in the day.

JAMES HARDY scored a late equaliser on his League debut to earn Walsall a point. Forest Green had taken a 45th-minute lead through Joseph Mills’ penalty, awarded after James Clarke had hauled down Aaron Collins.

CAMBRIDGE 0 NEWPORT 0

CAMBRIDGE head coach Colin Calderwood was happy with a point and said: ‘We were resolute in the first half in really horrible conditions.’ It was his side’s second goalless draw.

SWINDON 3 CARLISLE 2

GOALS from Jerry Yates, Zeki Fryers and Kaiyne Woolery maintained Swindon’s perfect start to the season. Olufela Olomola and Mohammed Ali Sagaf scored for Carlisle, who had Canice Carroll sent off.

CHELTENHAM 4 SCUNTH’PE 1

CHELTENHAM roared back for a convincing win after Lee Novak had given Scunthorpe the lead. Ryan Broom, Charlie Raglan, Alex Addai and Conor Thomas got the goals.

STEVENAGE 0 EXETER 1

NICKY LAW’S 89th-minute winner kept Exeter’s perfect start to the league season intact, and boss Matt Taylor said: ‘Nicky’s got a quality of another level. He’s not a League Two player and we’re lucky to have him.’

CRAWLEY 2 SALFORD 0

CRAWLEY clinched their first win of the season with a goal in each half by Bez Lubala and Nathan Ferguson to see off newcomers Salford, who were largely outplayed.

PORT VALE 1 NORTHAMPTO­N 1

PORT VALE and Northampto­n are still waiting for their first win of the season after playing out a draw at Vale Park. David Amoo gave Vale a deserved lead but they were pegged back by Ryan Watson’s equaliser.

GRIMSBY 1 BRADFORD 1

GRIMSBY boss Michael Jolley felt they deserved a win. James Hanson cancelled out James Vaughan’s opener for Bradford, and Jolley said: ‘We can count ourselves a little bit unlucky.’

PLYMOUTH 1 COLCHESTER 0

RYAN LOWE’S League Two pacesetter­s made it back-to-back wins as Plymouth battled to victory over Colchester. Midfielder Antoni Sarcevic fired the only goal in the 57th minute as the game opened up after a tight start.

MANSFIELD 2 MORECAMBE 2

FOR the second game in a row, Mansfield fought back from two goals down. Sam Lavelle and Lewis Alessandra netted for Morecambe but Nicky Maynard and Danny Rose replied.

OLDHAM 1 CREWE 2

CREWE secured their first win of the season thanks to Chris Porter’s double after Christophe­r Missilou had opened the scoring. Crewe manager Dave Artell said: ‘It’s a travesty we only won 2-1 with the chances we created.’
