Klopp’s loophole to new wall rule

-

JURGEN KLOPP came up with an innovative way of getting round the new rules on walls — build his own.

Opposition players aren’t allowed within one metre of a defensive wall, getting rid of the shoving that can hold up play. Klopp’s solution against Norwich was to build a wall a metre in front of Norwich’s (left), so obscuring keeper Tim Krul’s view. The players then ducked when Trent Alexander-Arnold hit the ball.

‘It’s within the letter of the law,’ said former referee Chris Foy.
