MANAGER Jack Ross was keen to play down Sunderland’s first league win of the season after his side came from behind to beat Portsmouth. Marcus Harness put the home side ahead but Jordan Willis (above) and Chris Maguire won it. Ross said: ‘For me it was just three points in the quest to achieve promotion. It’s just three games into the season.’ Opposite number Kenny Jackett said: ‘We’re not happy with two defeats away. They’ve been unusual – we’ve been on top for both.’

A LATE Wes Burns own goal sank Fleetwood. Cameron John and James Coppinger scored for Doncaster, Conor McAleny and substitute Paddy Madden replying for Fleetwood.

PETERBOROU­GH 2 IPSWICH 2

LUKE CHAMBERS scored a late equaliser to secure Ipswich a point. James Norwood had opened the scoring for them, before Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa to put Peterbroug­h ahead only for Chambers to deny them a win.

ROCHDALE manager Brian Barry-Murphy hailed the courage and resilience of his side as they extended their unbeaten start. ‘We were the dominant force,’ he said.

COVENTRY 2 BRISTOL ROVERS 0

BRISTOL ROVERS boss Graham Coughlan said he had to shoulder the blame for his side’s defeat at Coventry City for being ‘too gung ho’. ‘It leaves us vulnerable,’ he admitted. Jordan Shipley and Gervane Kastaneer got the goals.

TRANMERE 5 BOLTON 0

TRANMERE picked up their first win of the season, steamrolli­ng troubled Bolton. Goals from Ollie Banks, Morgan Ferrier (2), Connor Jennings and Stefan Payne completed the rout.

LINCOLN 4 SOUTHEND 0

LINCOLN made light work of struggling Southend. The League One newcomers cruised to victory thanks to first-half goals from defenders Jason Shackell and Harry Toffolo, before Tyler Walker and Bruno Andrade sealed it.

BLACKPOOL 2 OXFORD UTD 1

BLACKPOOL maintained a 100 per cent start to their league campaign thanks to Ryan Edwards’ header and Armand Gnanduille­t’s penalty. Josh Ruffels replied for Oxford.

WYCOMBE 3 MK DONS 2

DAVID WHEELER’S stoppage-time goal gave Wycombe a thrilling win. Joe Jacobson’s penalty and a Fred Onyedinma goal twice had them ahead but Jordan Bowery and Jordan Houghton levelled for MK Dons each time.

AFC WIMBLEDON 1 ACCRINGTON 1

COLBY BISHOP scored his first league goal to earn 10-man Accrington a draw. Luke O’Neill put Wimbledon ahead but Accrington hit back despite Zaine Francis-Angol’s red card.

BURTON 0 ROTHERHAM 1

ROTHERHAM boss Paul Warne was happy with the win and said: ‘I always want football utopia and perfection. I am probably never going to get that so I can’t moan.’ An own-goal by keeper Kieran O’Hara was the difference.
