PHIL PARKINSON was able to celebrate his second victory as Sunderland manager as Luke O’Nien (right) dived to head home the only goal in the first half. Parkinson said: ‘I’m very pleased. We’ve had two long trips on the road, and maybe we weren’t at our sharpest for the whole game, but in patches we were good. It’s important when you are not quite at your best you get the result. We showed good resilience and we should have scored more.’

WYCOMBE stayed top with victory over 10-man Shrewsbury. Newcastle loanee Rolando Aarons scored his first goal for the club before Shrewsbury had Ro-Shaun Williams sent off for two injurytime yellow cards.

WIMBLEDON 1 LINCOLN 1

LINCOLN were denied a first away win since August as Kwesi Appiah’s late effort gave Wimbledon a point in Glyn Hodges’ first game as manager. Jack Payne scored for Lincoln.

ROCHDALE 1 BRISTOL R 2

BRISTOL Rovers survived a second-half onslaught to hang on for victory. Victor Adeboyejo and an Eoghan O’Connell own-goal had them 2-0 up in 11 minutes but Rochdale’s pressure only produced a Callum Camps reply.

BLACKPOOL 4 PETERBORO 3

BLACKPOOL came out on top in a seven-goal thriller thanks to two own-goals. They came from Niall Mason and Dan Butler, with Armand Gnanduille­t getting two in between.

PORTSMOUTH 1 OXFORD 1

MATTY TAYLOR scored a lastminute equaliser to extend highflying Oxford’s unbeaten run to 12 matches. He headed in James Henry’s cross to cancel out Gareth Evans’ penalty and rescue a share of the points.

BOLTON 2 FLEETWOOD 1

CHRIS O’GRADY and Daryl Murphy got the goals as bottom-of-the-table Bolton beat high-flyers Fleetwood, with substitute Josh Morris pulling one back in the dying minutes.

MK DONS 1 TRANMERE 3

MK DONS parted company with boss Paul Tisdale after they went down to Rushian HepburnMur­phy’s hat-trick. Chairman Pete Winkelman said Tisdale was ‘leaving the club in a better position than when he found it’.

COVENTRY 0 ACCRINGTON 0

ACCRINGTON boss John Coleman slammed his ‘sloppy’ side, insisting: ‘We can play miles better than that.’ Coventry had Maxime Biamou sent off for an elbow on Mark Hughes.

MATT CROOKS scored twice as Rotherham made it three away league wins in a row. Michael Smith got the other but also had a penalty saved. Boss Paul Warne said: ‘It was a good performanc­e. The lads are buzzing.’

DONCASTER twice came from behind to earn a point. David Templeton and a Lukas Akins penalty saw Burton lead twice but Jon Taylor and Kieran Sadlier responded.
