OXFORD inflicted leaders only Wycombe’s second defeat of the season in a fiery derby. Wycombe had striker Adebayo Akinfenwa (above) sent off in the 26th minute after the striker squared up to John Mousinho, and eight players were booked. Despite the defeat, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said: ‘I’m so proud of the performanc­e of my team. We had a mountain to climb with 10 men. We defended magnificen­tly.’ James Henry got the only goal.

PORTSMOUTH 1 IPSWICH 0

KENNY JACKETT hailed match-winner Ronan Curtis as Portsmouth boosted promotion hopes. He said: ‘What Ronan is doing is good, very good. It was a fantastic strike.’ Ipswich had Luke Chambers sent off.

TRANMERE 1 AFC WIMBLEDON 0

MICKY MELLON believes his Tranmere side have finally got a return on recent performanc­es, saying: ‘We feel that we have been performing well.’ Rushian Hepburn-Murphy got the goal.

FEJIRI OKENABIRHI­E’S penalty gave Shrewsbury back-to-back league victories and manager Sam Ricketts admitted: ‘It ends up being a bit of a grind and a bit of a battle. We weren’t scintillat­ing with the ball.’

ROTHERHAM rallied twice to rescue a point. Ched Evans twice put Fleetwood in front but they side were pegged back first by Freddie Ladapo and then by Matt Crooks’ late goal.

BOLTON’S hopes of a great escape from relegation were boosted by a comeback win over fellow Southend. Joe Dodoo, Luke Murphy and Daryl Murphy got their goals, Harry Lennon and Tim Dieng scoring for Southend.

TWO GOALS in as many first-half minutes from Mikael Mandron and Brandon Hanlan put Gillingham in charge. Alex Gilbey pulled one back for MK Dons, but Max Ehmer sealed it.

CHRISTY PYM’S brilliant save in added time from Ollie Clarke earned Peterborou­gh a point, while caretaker boss Kevin Maher said: ‘It’s been a tough week, but I will happily do the job for as long as the club want me to.’

OFFRANDE Zanzala came off the bench to snatch a point for Accrington. Doncaster led through Jon Taylor but Zanzala stretched Accrington’s unbeaten run to five matches.

BURTON Albion came from behind to secure a much-needed home win. Callum Camps put Rochdale in front, but previously goal-shy Burton won it thanks to goals from Ryan Edwards, Lucas Akins, from the spot, and Liam Boyce.

COVENTRY 1 LINCOLN 0

ANGRY Lincoln boss Michael Appleton lamented a ‘blatant’ officiatin­g error which cost his side a penalty for a hand-ball on the line. Zain Westbooke got the only goal of the game.
