Missing you, my little love... this grief is so tiring

Six months after losing his daughter Iris, Ben Goldsmith’s heart-breaking tribute

THEIR lives were torn apart last summer when their eldest daughter was killed in a tragic buggy accident at the age of 15.

Now, six months after her death, financier Ben Goldsmith and his ex-wife Kate Rothschild have paid touching tribute to Iris in a series of emotional posts on social media.

Environmentalist Ben, 39, the brother of former Tory MP Zac and campaigner Jemima, shared a poignant photograph of Iris taken last April during a family holiday in the Caribbean.

Posting on his Instagram page, Ben wrote: ‘I can hardly believe it’s half a year. It feels like no time and a lifetime. Missing you, my little love, and living with this sadness is so tiring.

‘You were on the cusp of adulthood; an actual young lady I realised when I saw this photo.’

Meanwhile, heartbroken Kate, 38, wrote: ‘Six months have passed and words fail me today so I won’t say much except that we miss you, we all miss you in everything we do and every moment of every day.

‘We came together to celebrate you again today, and we will keep on coming, because you will forever and always be our angel, we will never forget.’

Iris was riding an all- terrain buggy around the family’s farm in North Brewham, Somerset, on July 8 last year when it overturned. She was pronounced dead in hospital. A final inquest hearing is expected later this year after an i nitial hearing was adjourned because of a lack of information.

Ben, the son of Sir James and Lady Annabel Goldsmith, has previously described his daughter as ‘beautiful, brilliant and kind’.

In his latest post, he added: ‘You will always be a marvel to us, my Irie. One of life’s champions. What’s life without champions? We’re struggling to make sense of ours without you.’

Ben and banking heiress Kate, who separated in 2012 and later divorced, have two surviving sons, Frank, 14, and Isaac, 11. Ben has two other children, Eliza, three, and Arlo, two, with his second wife, Jemima. They will welcome their third child together later this year.
