IT IS a touching scene that could have come straight f rom her latest TV triumph in The Nest – as actress Sophie Rundle offers a loving gloved hand to her fiance during a romantic stroll.

The star − rarely absent from our screens after her roles in a string of ratings-winners − looked striking in matching blue denim jacket, beret and gloves as she gently touched boyfriend Matt Stokoe’s beard as they enjoyed the spring sunshine.

They were out walking t heir retriever Buddy, whi c h they acquired last April, in their permitted daily excursion for exercise. The dog is a star in his own right, always popular with Sophie’s 248,000 Instagram followers.

Even though she got engaged to actor and writer Matt almost a year ago, a wedding may still be some way off. Speaking shortly after the proposal, Sophie, said: ‘The whole wedding thing is weird. Everyone expects you to be desperate to be a princess for the day… that’s not really my scene.’

Perhaps best known f or her appearances in Peaky Blinders and Bodyguard, she is currently drawing rave reviews for her performances in BBC1’s Sunday night drama The Nest, in which she stars opposite Line Of Duty’s Martin Compston as a wealthy couple struggling to conceive.

Despite her burgeoning fame, she and her fiance, who also appeared in Bodyguard as crime boss Luke Aikens, blended in with other couples enjoying the fresh air.

The pair, both 31, met on the set of Sky One drama Jamestown in 2016. Since then Sophie’s TV appearances have also i ncluded the dramas Gentleman Jack, Happy Valley, Episodes and Call The Midwife.

Now The Nest looks set to become another ratings hit. The first episode attracted 4.1 million viewers, the same as Lord Fellowes’s new period drama Belgravia, which aired at the same time last Sunday on ITV.
