British driver stuck in New Zealand
JAMIE CHADWICK, winner of the inaugural women-only W Series championship, is stuck in New Zealand hoping for a swift return to Britain.
‘I’m aiming for a flight home soon,’ she told The Mail on Sunday. ‘My original flight was cancelled last week and having a British passport seems like having the plague. I couldn’t go anywhere via
Sydney or Singapore, or anywhere else, in transit.’ Chadwick, 21, has been in Auckland the past few days, only able to move to buy essentials.
Bath-born Chadwick travelled to New Zealand in mid-March to take part in development driving for Rodin Cars, a small manufacturer, in South Island, having earned 10 super-licence points towards F1 inclusion in the F3 Asian series.
She said: ‘Overall, all is OK. I am staying in a nice Airbnb. There is a good feeling that, when I get home, I can get back to some sort of normal. I’ve been on my bike and running to keep fit.’
