Obey the two-metre rule? No, Jude’s a Law unto himself

PERHAPS it’s apt that the star of a film called Closer pays little attention to social-distancing rules.

But as Jude Law also starred in the dystopian pandemic thriller Contagion, he should be more aware than most of the risks of ignoring the two-metre guidance.

The 47- year- old at least had the good sense to avoid handshakes when he met a London estate agent last week, opting for the reduced contact of an elbow-bump instead.

But all caution was thrown to the wind when he hugged his daughter Iris and her boyfriend, artist Jyrrel Roberts, while accompanying them on a house-hunting trip.

He also stood just inches from his ex- wife Sadie Frost, which at least suggests that relations have improved since their six-year marriage ended in n an acrimonious divorce in 2003.

Their family visit to view the flat was s the first time that Jude and Sadie, 55, have been seen together in public since 2014. But Jude, now married to psychologist Phillipa Coan, certainly didn’t dress up to see his former wife.

Looking almost unrecognisable to anyone familiar with his stylish screen characters, he wore a scruffy T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms ripped at the ankle, while his greying lock down beard added to the dishevelled look. Meanwhile, Iris, 19, and Jyrrel, 22, wore matching his-and-hers orange jackets.

Iris is tipped to follow in the footsteps of her godmother Kate Moss after becoming one of the world’s most sought-after young models. She was photographed for Vogue in 2002 with her family, made her modelling debut at the age of 15 and took it up as a career after completing her A-levels.

It is thought she and Jyrrel, who have been dating since 2018, are buying their first house together as her fashion career takes off.

Her first Paris Fashion Week catwalk appearance, alongside her friend Kaia Gerber, the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford, came in January. Just days later she launched her own collection of handbags, Iris By Iris, made by Mulberry, with Jyrrel accompanying her to the launch. Other fashion houses she has modelled for include Miu Miu, Fendi and Burberry.

Unlike her parents, who in their younger years hosted wild parties at their North London home, Iris is described by friends as ‘very, very sensible’.

Other photographs of Jude taken last week showed he has inked over a forearm tattoo to Sadie, turning the Beatles lyric ‘You came along to turn on everyone, Sexy Sadie’ into a drawing of a large fish.
