CENTER PARCS FRANCE: FAMILIES FROLIC IN THE POOL LAST WEEK

-

SPLASHING and smiling, these holidaymakers in France are making the most of the chance to grab a much-needed break.

The Center Parc resort is one of many across Europe that have been open for weeks.

Guests are allowed to make full use of the pools – and even the water slides, as long as they stick to distancing guidelines.

But in Britain, Center Parcs will remain closed for at least another three weeks – much to the annoyance of families who want to get away on holiday.

The Les Bois-Francs park in the Normandy countryside welcomed back guests on June 5. Visitors are told to keep one metre apart. There are hand sanitiser stations throughout public areas along with signs asking guests to wear masks.

Although the pool facilities have reopened, the capacity has been reduced to 100. Signs ask guests not to shake hands and to cough into their elbow. Hair dryers and hand dryers are turned off.

Center Parcs UK, which has a different owner, has said its five villages in the UK will remain closed until July 12 – despite the Government planning to lift restrictions on July 4. ‘In the current climate we know that things can change very quickly, so please note that these are not confirmed opening dates – as soon as we do have a reopening date we will let you know,’ the firm’s website said yesterday.

Guests who had booked to go on holiday before July 12 are being offered full refunds or the opportunity to reschedule to a later date.
