Heaven knows we’re crying out for some light-hearted jollity these days, which makes this new six-part series a welcome addition to the schedules. Ebullient comedian Jack Whitehall (right) couldn’t do serious if he tried, so he’s the perfect presenter for this sporting clip show.

With so many events cancelled or delayed in 2020, here’s a chance to look back and watch past glories instead.

This year’s Tokyo Olympics is the most notable of postponements, so instead, as Whitehall presents an opening episode dedicated to Britain as games hosts, we can look back to the triumph that was London 2012 – and wonder, too, about the many oddities at the 1908 Olympic Games here. And of course no sporting nostalgia fest would be complete without the 1966 Wembley World Cup final.
