The regular grown-up version of the singing contest is yet to be completed – we’ve seen the opening rounds but the live shows won’t take place until it’s safe to have the wannabes and their mentors together in the studio again.

We’re expecting something similar from the junior spin-off. Many of the episodes have been pre-recorded so we’ll get to see the blind auditions and battle rounds but will have to wait for the rest, which must be frustrating for the young participants.

Emma Willis once again hosts the proceedings while trying to keep the children calm – although if previous years are anything to go by, the precocious performers are full of confidence and less likely to blow a gasket than she is.

Look out for a change on the coaching panel, with Paloma Faith (second left) replacing Jessie J, alongside Will.i.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones.
