School return is vital

What a relief to hear that common sense will prevail around the issue of children returning to school. I spent most of my working life dealing with welfare issues and non-attendance, and sat as a magistrate on such cases. It has taken so many years to enforce school attendance yet it seems to be taking only a few months to destroy it. Covid-19 is a serious issue but it appals me that it can now be used by parents to keep children out of education, to let teachers stay at home on full pay, and to enable Left-leaning teaching unions to use fear as a stick with which to beat a Government under pressure.
