Now Anfield run out of Kop kit
LIVERPOOL have run out of replica home kit after selling a record 1.7million shirts this season. The club asked for additional shirts to meet increased demand after ending a 30-year wait to become Premier League champions. However, it is understood that the US-based manufacturer won’t produce any more. The relationship between Liverpool and New Balance was soured last year when the club won their High Court battle, paving the way for a five-year deal with
Nike which was due to start on June 1 but the launch was delayed until August 1.
Liverpool hope to smash their sales record again next season when the new deal will enable them to sell through a larger number of global retail outlets.
Nike’s partnership could become the most lucrative in Anfield’s history. The contract is worth a guaranteed £30m a year, around £15m less than the £45m earned from New Balance. However, add-ons and a 20 per cent cut of global sales will see their eventual income dwarf the current deal.
