Sean Penn, 59 marries Greta’s daughter, 28
IF SEAN PENN’S new bride looks s familiar, there’s a reason for that t – she’s the daughter of actress s Greta Scacchi.
The former Hollywood hellraiser r –whose A-list ex es include Madonna, Charlize Theron and Robin Wright – has married Leila George in a secret ceremony.
They are believed to have tied the knot on Friday, despite a 31year age gap. Penn, 59, was born in the same year as 28-year-old Leila’s famous mum.
Yesterday, a friend of the couple, Irena Medavoy, the wife of film producer Mike Medavoy, revealed the news on Instagram, writing: ‘We love you. We are over the moon to [see you] find your soulmate true partner. You are meant nt to be together. God bless you both and the family you have joined.’
Mrs Medavoy also posted a picture of Miss George’s blue sapphire engagement ring and a thin, gold wedding band from the ceremony, which is understood to have been held in America.
Sydney-born Leila, who was just 24 when she met Penn, is the daughter of American actor Vincent D’Onofrio and Italian-born Miss Scacchi, and has been carving herself a career as an actress after taking acting classes at Crawley College in West Sussex ten years ago. It will hopefully be third time lucky for outspoken Dead Man Walking actor Penn, who has been married twice before. After being briefly engaged to Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern in 1984, he married pop s uperstar Madonna in August 1985 but their marriage lasted less than two years. He l at er married f el l ow actor Robin Wright, now 54, but they divorced in 2010. He was more recently engaged to Hollywood beauty b Charlize Theron. Penn’s big day came just 48 hours h after he was seen dining at the t exclusive Japanese restaurant r Nobu in Malibu with his bride-to-be b and his son Hopper, 26, f rom his marriage t o Ms Wright. They also have a 29-yearold daughter, Dylan. Last month he admitted: ‘I am aware that I can be a difficult person to like from afar.’
