Sorry lads, but did you forget Ibiza’s 1.5m rule?
ENGLAND football stars Dele Alli, Jack Grealish and James Maddison appear to have flouted social distancing rules in Ibiza.
The Foreign Office website warns Britons in Spain must observe local coronavirus rules, including 1.5m social distancing, ‘at all times’.
But the England trio appeared to ignore the rules as they were pictured by the beach with a group of women on the Spanish party island. The players soaked up the sun and drank beers in their swimming trunks, following the end of the football season.
Alli, 24, who reportedly earns £100,000 a week from Tottenham, sported a red cap, black trunks and John Lennon-style sunglasses.
Meanwhile, Leicester’s Maddison, 23, had a bandage on his hip. He missed the end of the season after surgery to treat a tendon issue.
Last weekend, the Foreign Office advised against all non-essential travel to Spain, later adding the Balearic and Canary Islands to the list. Spain reported 3,092 new coronavirus cases on Friday, the highest spike in infections since the national lockdown lifted in June.
A report published last week by the Office for National statistics found Spain had the biggest peak of excess deaths during the pandemic of any country in Europe.
The Premier League stars will have to quarantine for two weeks when they fly back to the UK. In February, a video emerged of Alli appearing to mock the accent of an Asian man while ridiculing the coronavirus outbreak. He subsequently issued an apology on Chinese social media platform Weibo, saying he had let himself and his club down. He was suspended for one match and fined £50,000 by the Football Association.
Grealish was branded a ‘Covidiot’ for ignoring Government advice earlier in the pandemic. The 24year-old apologised after crashing his £70,000 Range Rover on his way home from a party at an ex-teammate’s flat in March.
Hours before the incident, Grealish had posted a video on social media urging his followers to listen to the Government’s advice and stay at home. He said he was ‘deeply embarrassed’ about flouting the rules and urged others not to act as ‘stupidly’ as he had done.
The Aston Villa star was reportedly fined £150,000 by his club.
