READY FOR VACCINE LINE OF CRYOGENIC FREEZERS AT SECRET UK SITE
STANDING at the ready, this row of nondescript white freezers will store the first Covid vaccines to arrive on British soil this week. A total of 58 units in this high-security centre will each contain up to 86,000 doses of the newly approved Pfizer jab, which must be kept at minus 70C. The location of the hub is being kept secret, following Interpol warnings that organised criminal gangs are plotting to steal supplies.
Public Health England released the pictures of these ultra-low temperature Twin-Guard freezers, which will each store more than £1.3 million-worth of the vaccine. The machines can chill contents to minus 86C and each has a back-up refrigeration system to protect against failure. The secure facility has capacity to store up to five million doses.
