the irony of the UK having access to a vaccine developed in Germany and manufactured in Belgium almost a month before the EU Medicines Agency is even due to consider it will not be lost on Michel Barnier as he continues Brexit negotiations (maybe we should offer him the jab next time he’s over?). But for me, the real triumph is the news that, thanks to Brexit, the UK has moved one step closer to banning the live export of animals for slaughter, which currently cannot be stopped because it breaches EU free trade laws. One small step for Britain, one giant leap for animal welfare.
