£1 million Claudia an asset to BBC

-

While it seems particularly disheartening to hear about BBC stars’ huge salaries this year, as thousands of frontline workers around the country are laying down their lives while earning far less than Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman (left), it’s not her fault that the media sector pays its stars so much. Claudia is clearly an asset to the BBC and should be rewarded as such. If £1 million a year is the going rate, so be it.

G. Lewis, Elgin

Is anyone worth the kind of salary – said to be £1 million a year – you report that Claudia may in future get from the BBC? Most television and radio broadcasters are vastly overpaid for what they have to do, namely read from an Autocue and play a few tracks of music.

Tim Mickleburgh, Grimsby

Please tell your BBC source that not everybody ‘loves’ Winkleman, whose only talent appears to be an ability to stand around looking gormless. She and her ilk who are paid exorbitant sums by the Beeb are one reason I have so far failed to buy a TV licence.

June Green, Bagshot, Surrey

Although I love her and think she’s interesting and funny, no one on radio or television should be paid such an inflated salary.
