Sexton has world’s best sides in sight

JOHNNY SEXTON is confident Ireland can return to the top table of international rugby after ending a challenging 2020 by finishing third in the Autumn Nations Cup with a 31-16 win against Scotland.

The Irish recovered well from a slow start to run out resounding winners against Scotland and bounce back from last weekend’s underwhelming success over Georgia.

Nemani Nadolo’s hat-trick helped Fiji end a difficult Autumn Nations Cup campaign with a 38-24 victory against Georgia.

Their Group B matches were cancelled due to a coronavirus outbreak in the camp, but Vern Cotter’s team were able to play at Murrayfield and raced out of the blocks with Leicester wing Nadolo starting his try feast in the second minute.

Australia and Argentina battled out a 16-16 draw in Sydney to conclude the Tri-Nations Series as New Zealand were confirmed as champions. Australia had the chance to seal victory with a last- gasp penalty but Reece Hodge missed his kick.
