Hammers furious as United seal comeback
FURIOUS David Moyes said West Ham were robbed as Paul Pogba’s hotly-disputed strike sent comeback kings Manchester United into the top four with a 3-1 win at the London Stadium.
The Hammers were 1-0 up and cruising when Paul Pogba equalised. The West Ham boss and his players were convinced keeper Dean Henderson’s long punt had curled out of play in the build-up.
‘The ball went over my head on the touchline,’ said Moyes. ‘There was no one in a better position to see it. The linesman is claiming he didn’t see it. It was a poor decision. The ball was out of play and our players knew it.’
Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford rubbed salt into the wound and Moyes admitted: ‘We turned off. It really gave us a feeling of disappointment.’
The fightback comes a week after United came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Southampton and is the fourth time this season they’ve won from a losing position. Of United’s tendency to fall behind, Rashford said: ‘We need to stop doing that.’
