A droll and understated comedy delight from the pen of Alan Plater that focuses on jazz-loving comprehensive school woodwork teacher Trevor and English teacher Jill (James Bolam and Barbara Flynn, right). The three series all involve the Leeds pair unwittingly winkling out very minor local scams and fiddles, while pursued by a punctilious yet ineffectual police detective.
