Amazing Grace

BBC2, 8.30pm Unseen for more than 40 years due to technical issues, this concert film, directed by Sydney Pollack, charts the recording of Aretha Franklin’s (above) 1972 live gospel album Amazing Grace at LA’s New Temple Missionary Baptist Church. There’s also another chance to watch Aretha Franklin: Respect (BBC2, 9.55pm), in which the likes of Tom Jones and Clarke Peters pay tribute.
