BBC committed to programmes for all
In response to last week’s article (‘Axe BBC licence fee for Sky-style subscriptions, 40 per cent of viewers tell poll’), the licence fee continues to ensure the BBC is an independent, universal broadcaster, committed to creating programmes and services for everyone.
It’s worth noting that as part of the same survey, 63 per cent of people said they plan to watch more or the same amount of BBC programming this Christmas as they did last year. In addition, our independent analysis of public opinion shows that the licence fee is also the most popular way to fund the BBC. Long-term polling shows 41 per cent of the public pick the licence fee as the best way to fund the BBC, above advertising (30 per cent) and subscription (26 per cent).
