It’s not just Dele Alli up for grabs as we look at the outcasts desperate for change next month

THE January transfer window opens this Friday. It offers the chance of a new beginning for a number of frustrated players who are yearning for a fresh start. Here we select a matchday squad from just some of the names that are eager for the new year to open a window of opportunit­y.

SERGIO ROMERO

(Manchester United) 12 Kept 12 clean sheets in his 17 appearance­s in the Europa League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season.

Out of United’s squads and out of c o nt r a c t in t he s ummer, t he 33-year-old has had interest from Everton and Valencia.

JONJOE KENNY

(Everton) 2 Only t wo Ever t on defenders have averaged more tackles per 90mins than Jonjoe Kenny ( 2.37) since the start of the 2016-17 season (min 500 mins played).

Starred in the Bundesliga on loan at Schalke but the 23-year-old has struggled to convince Carlo Ancelotti and is looking to leave.

JAMES TOMKINS

(Crystal Palace) 100 Since joining Palace, only Patrick van Aanholt has played more games in the Eagles defence than Tomkins (100).

Palace are willing to listen to offers for Tomkins, who is fit again after injury troubles, and he has interest from West Bromwich.

MARCOS ROJO (Manchester United)

63 Roj o h a s mi s s e d 6 3 PL games wit h i nj ur y s i nce joining United. He played 76 games in the competitio­n for the club.

Has i nterest f rom Sheffield United and Newcastle if they can find a financial package to tempt him away from Old Trafford.

DANNY ROSE

(Tottenham) 13 Rose provided 13 assists in the PL since 2014-15, only Kieran Trippier ( 14) has managed more among Tottenham defenders in that time.

Out of Jose Mourinho’s plans, he has been playing with Tottenham’s U23s as his contract ticks down and he waits for the right move.

DANNY DRINKWATER (Chelsea)

1000 days since Drinkwater’s last Premier League appearance f or

Chelsea. He has made just 12 since his move to Stamford Bridge in September 2017.

The former England internatio­nal turned down moves last summer but is ready to consider more options to get back on track.

JAMES McCARTHY

(Crystal Palace) 9 Yel l ow cards pi cked up by McCarthy l ast season. Only Man c h e s t e r U n i t e d ’ s B r a n d o n Williams earned more per 90 mins than the Palace midfielder ( 0.48, min 500 mins played).

He is out of contract in summer and has interest from Celtic, who can begin talks on a cross-border transfer.

DELE ALLI (Tottenham)

50 Al l i b e c a me by far the youngest English midfielder to reach 50 Premier League goals last season aged 23 years 331 days, surpassing Frank Lampard (26 years 181 days).

Mauricio Pochettino’s pending appointmen­t at Paris Saint-Germain will fuel the prospect of a January move to the French capital for the misfiring midfielder who has fallen out of the England side.

ODION IGHALO

(Shanghai GS/ Man United) 5 Ighalo scored in all of his first f our star t s f or United i n all competitio­ns ( 5 goals). He has started only three games since and has not scored another goal.

Has had little chance to make an impact since Edinson Cavani’s signing and United will look to end his loan from Shanghai next month.

DANIEL STURRIDGE (Free)

17 Sturridge scored 17 PL goals as a substitute, only three players in the competitio­n’s history have scored more off the bench.

The 31-year-old, who hasn’t played s i nce l eaving Trabzonspo­r in March, is eager to allay fears over his reliabilit­y fitness-wise. He has unfinished business in the Premier League but has i nterest from Germany, Italy and USA.

DIVOCK ORIGI (Liverpool)

175 Or i g i b o a s t s a b e t t e r minutes- per- goal ra t i o ( 175.2) in all comps for Liverpool than both Roberto Firmino ( 237.1) and Sadio Mane (177.6).

He has struggled for game time and Liverpool would sell for around £20 million. The Belgian has interest from Wolves, who would prefer a loan, and Schalke.
