WHERE THE OXFORD VACCINE IS MADE
IN TWO English factories – at the ‘OxBox’ Biomedica centre in Oxford and another in Keele, Staffordshire. The liquid is bottled by an Indian firm, Wockhardt, in Wrexham, North Wales, with 0.5ml doses put in glass phials in a process called ‘fill and finish’. The plant can produce at least 150,000 doses a day. Initially, extra supplies of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine are coming from Leiden in the Netherlands and from Germany. The Pfizer vaccine is imported from Puurs in Belgium.
