PICK OF THE DAY Not Going Out

-

BBC1, 9.30pm Make Friday night on BBC1 your regular stop-off for an hour-long double bill of comedy to warm you through the depths of winter. Chaos is, as ever, only a farcical mishap or two away as Not Going Out returns for a five-part series following Lee (Lee Mack) and Lucy (Sally Bretton), both right, as they deal with all the vicissitudes life throws at them. In this week’s opener, Lee mistakenly opens a package sent to a neighbour left with them for safekeeping – and discovering what’s inside proves to be rather awkward… ★★★★☆

Earlier, Rob Brydon is back in the chair as quizmaster for the new run of Would I Lie To You? (BBC1, 9pm), with Mack captaining alongside David Mitchell. Les Dennis, Richard Osman, Alice Levine and Lou Sanders are the guests for this brilliant battle of wit, in which dishonesty is always the best policy if you want to win. ★★★★★
