Let people pay for virus jab

-

As there are millions of doses of the new Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine expected, why can’t some be made available for private purchase?

Companies could charge, for example, £100 with the promise that 75 per cent of the profit be donated to the NHS. There would probably be at least two million people prepared to pay, which would take pressure off the NHS trying to roll it out and also enable people to then get the airline and holiday industries up and running again.

Who wouldn’t add a couple of hundred pounds to the cost of their break if they could book a jab and holiday package?

It’s a win-win situation, with potentially a nice lump sum donated to the NHS. I always pay for a flu jab and would willingly pay more for a Covid jab if it were available. And I know of many others who would be prepared to do the same.

We already pay to be vaccinated to visit some countries, so why not now add a Covid one to the list?
