WIMBLEDON 1 LINCOLN 2

TOM HOPPER’S winner saw Michael Appleton’s Lincoln extend their lead at the top.

Tayo Edun put the visitors in front within 10 minutes, with Ollie Palmer equalising for Covid-hit AFC Wimbledon.

Several of the home side’s players are believed to have tested positive ahead of the clash, but manager Glyn Hodges said they shouldn’t blame their loss on that. ‘I was still confident in the team that we picked, I was confident in the players,’ he said.

HULL 2 CHARLTON 0

HAKEEB ADELAKUN and Greg Docherty scored the goals in a bad-tempered game in which Darren Pratley was sent off for Charlton. Lee Bowyer was frustrated by the manner of his side’s defeat. ‘To lose the way we have done is tough to take,’ he said. ‘I think we dominated the ball without hurting them.’

NORTHAMPTN 0 SUNDERLAND 0

LEE JOHNSON was disappointed with his Sunderland side’s lack of quality in the final third. ‘We just lacked a little bit of quality in key moments,’ he said. Northampton boss Keith Curle added: ‘That’s four points from two games this week and I’m pleased with that. It was a hard-fought encounter.’

BURTON 1 OXFORD 5

OXFORD made it four straight wins thanks to a goal from Matty Taylor, and a brace apiece from Olamide Shodipo and Josh Ruffels. Kane Hemmings hit Burton’s consolation, and their new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink admitted: ‘There is a lot of work to be done.’

BRISTOL R 2 BLACKPOOL 1

GOALS from Brandon Hanlan and Sam Nicholson saw Rovers come from behind to beat Blackpool, who led through Gary Madine. Winning manager Paul Tisdale sang the praises of Nicholson, calling the midfielder ‘special’.

PLYMOUTH 1 GILLINGHAM 0

WALES Under-21 striker Luke Jephcott took his season’s goal tally to 14 as Plymouth beat Gillingham. The hosts’ boss Ryan Lowe was delighted. ‘We were dominant more or less all the game really,’ he said.
