Brawl over for Sale
BILLY TWELVETREES sparked a mass brawl at the end of the game as Sale snatched a late victory at Kingsholm.
The former England back was shown a yellow card by referee Karl Dickson for pushing over one of the Sale support staff.
Twelvetrees was frustrated, after sub Josh Beaumont’s winning try for Sale, that one of the water carriers refused to let him have the ball for a quick restart.
Gloucester coach George Skivington said: ‘Billy was simply trying to get the ball from the lad and wanted to get on with the game because there was little time left.’
Sharks’ held on for a victory — which is the first under caretaker boss Paul Deacon—while Gloucester remain bottom.
Gloucester led 16-9 at the break thanks to a push-over try from prop Fraser Balmain and a try from Wales flyer Louis ReesZammit, demonstrating his pace.
Alan McGinty reduced the lead with a second penalty, but the hosts took advantage when visiting captain Jono Ross was sinbinned for a no arms hit on Val Rapava-Ruskin. Gloucester also lost Lewis Ludlow to the sin bin.
Beaumont produced the final twist in the tale, ending a long injury nightmare by jumping off the bench to be the hero.
