SHEFFIELD UNITED, Celtic, Bournemouth and Genk are among clubs interested in Preston defender Ben Davies. Davies, 25, has turned down Preston’s latest contract offer and could sign a pre-contract agreement this month and move for free in the summer. He is understood to have concerns about a move to Sheffield United, though, with manager Chris Wilder struggling to find a win this season.

CRYSTAL PALACE, Manchester United, Leicester City and Red Bull Leipzig are all watching Schalke defender Ozan Kabak, 20, who is available for around £25million. Palace are evaluating targets across Europe and want to offload James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho, who are near the end of their contracts. They also have Scott Dann, 33, and Gary Cahill, 35, and want to reduce the age of their squad.

WAYNE ROONEY, set to be confirmed as manager of Derby when the Rams’ takeover goes through this week, has handed a list of transfer targets to prospective owners Derventio Holdings.

Strikers seem to be the priority for the Championship strugglers and Rooney, 35, said: ‘I can identify targets I want to bring to the club and then it’s on the owners to produce that player for me. We’ve got targets we are working on. Hopefully we can get our business done early and the sooner the better for the squad.’

BOURNEMOUTH, braced for offers for Josh King and David Brooks, are looking at Leeds forward Tyler Roberts, who is ‘available’, says manager Marco Bielsa. Wales manager Ryan Giggs is keen for Roberts to play regularly in the run-up to the European Championship but he has made only two starts this season. Leeds wanted a winger in the summer and looked at Julian Draxler at PSG, Lucas Vazquez of Real Madrid and Leicester’s Demarai Gray, but are now assessing where best to strengthen the squad following injuries to centre-backs Robin Koch and Diego Llorente.
