How to win America’s Cup

SIR Ben Ainslie and his Ineos Team UK must first win the Prada Cup, which starts in Auckland on Friday. The British boat has a tough draw, facing both rivals — Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and the New York Yacht Club’s American Magic — on the opening day. The three challengers race each other four times in six days with the round-robin winner qualifying for the Prada Cup final. The other two then contest a best-of-seven repechage for a place in the final. The Prada Cup final from February 13-22 is a best-of-13-race event. The winner meets the defending champions Emirates Team New Zealand in the America’s Cup, starting on March 6. The first boat with seven wins in the America’s Cup will claim the trophy.
