The Queen has a child with her butler!
WHEN I heard that the Queen, the humble butler she’s in love with and their aristocrat daughter had all been spotted together outside St Paul’s Cathedral in London, I was desperate to see them. And it was all true – sort of.
Actually, it was Imelda Staunton – who will play the Queen in the fifth and sixth seasons of The Crown – enjoying a Sunday stroll with husband Jim Carter, best known as butler Mr Carson in Downton Abbey, and their daughter Bessie, who stars as debutante Prudence Featherington in new Netflix hit Bridgerton. And they were accompanied by the family dog, Molly – who is a star in her own right as she appeared with Imelda in the 2015 West End run of Gypsy.
As my picture shows, Imelda was worlds away from her royal role as she dressed in a black coat and a baker boy hat, while Bessie’s baggy tie-dyed trousers would hardly be suitable for a Regency ball.
