Finding Alice

With a dream cast of favourite TV stars led by Keeley Hawes, Joanna Lumley, Nigel Havers and Kenneth Cranham, you might expect this new comedy-drama series to offer safe, comfortable entertainment.

And while it does reunite Hawes with the writers of her cosy drama The Durrells – Roger Goldby and Simon Nye – this six-part series is a darker and more unpredictable affair. A domestic idyll is evoked when Alice (Hawes) and her husband Harry (Jason Merrells) move into their dream new home, but all that is quickly dashed after his sudden death on their first day there.

Quite what the future holds for Alice and her teenage daughter Charlotte (Isabella Pappas, right with Hawes) is uncertain as the family finances rapidly unravel and her faith in her late husband is quickly destroyed. Brace yourself for mystery and mirth with a bittersweet twist.
