PICK OF THE DAY
Winterwatch BBC2, 8pm, Tuesday- Friday
As we suffer through the chilly conditions, we can at least take heart in one ray of, er, sunshine: the return of our favourite nature-watchers, as the Winterwatch team returns to report from the wilds of the British landscape over four consecutive nights this week and next.
Lead presenter Chris Packham (right) is in and around his home in the New Forest, taking a close look at the changing landscape and its wildlife, including the badgers that viewers saw last year in the spring and autumn broadcasts.
Meanwhile, Iolo Williams is at the Centre For Alternative Technology in Mid-Wales, a world-leading site of eco-friendly wonders and home to thriving hazel dormice and pine martens. Gillian Burke again visits the Beaver Project in Cornwall, and naturalist Indy Greene is hoping to catch sight of birds of prey in Sherwood Forest.
