Back four backfires on Nuno
WOLVES may revert to their famed back three after their lapse in form continued with a 3-2 home defeat against Black Country rivals West Brom.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s decision to use a flat back four backfired with skipper Conor Coady substituted as Wolves’ poor run extended to five points in nine games.
‘We didn’t defend well as a team and there are obvious questions we are going to put to ourselves to be better for the next game,’ said Nuno. ‘There were a lot of things we knew West Brom would try but we didn’t stop them.
‘We don’t look at the table, only how we do things. We must look for solutions.’
The only consolation was a first Molineux goal for Fabio Silva who is deputising for the injured Raul
Jimenez, though the 18-year-old later blotted his copybook when he was booked for diving.
‘His goal can improve his confidence and now we must work to improve him as a player,’ said Nuno. ‘We are not in a good moment but there is only one way — to go to the training ground and work.’
Wolves have a potential FA Cup fourth round banana skin next at Chorley on Friday.
