HOW TO TRACK DOWN FORGOTTEN INVESTMENTS

-

IF YOU hold shares in an investment trust, but have lost track of what happened to them, you should be able to trace them with a bit of help.

Annabel Brodie-Smith, communications director of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC), says: ‘If you have some paperwork with the trust’s name on it, go on the internet to find out as much as possible online about the fund. You should then contact the management group if you find out who they are.’

She adds: ‘If your search proves fruitless, get in touch with the AIC.’ The email is: enquiries@ theaic.co.uk.

You can trace other lost shares by contacting the three main share registrars: Link Asset Services (Linkgroup.eu or 0371 664 0300); Computershare (Computershare.com/uk); and Equiniti (Equiniti.com or 0371 384 2030).

They will be able to search their own databases and, if they find you are owed unclaimed dividends, will be able to issue them to you.

They will also be able to reissue your share certificates if you have lost them – subject to a fee.
