My no-frills reveal
I was amused to read Elizabeth Day’s You magazine article on the US trends we’re suffering over here, the latest being ‘genderreveal parties’. I remember my own special gender-reveal party in the delivery room in 1974.
I’d just given birth and the midwife, about to lay the baby in the cot, turned to me and said: ‘Oh. It’s a girl.’ There were no confetti-filled balloons or colourcoded cakes, but I was delighted.
