PORTSMOUTH 0 HULL 4

TWO own goals from Portsmouth defender Jack Whatmough, one from the excellent George Honeyman and a late Josh Magennis strike secured a dominant victory for Hull. Manager Grant McCann said: ‘We scored four very good goals, albeit two of them own goals. We were against a very good team.’

The hosts’ manager Kenny Jackett added: ‘I didn’t think we had our usual energy. As we were trying to get back into the game it went further away from us.’

AN INSPIRED substitution from boss Michael Appleton helped Lincoln secure the points. Appleton sent on midfielder Conor McGrandles and he opened the scoring. ‘I felt we needed a little more running,’ Appleton said. CHARLIE WYKE’S 14th of the season secured a long-awaited home win for Sunderland, and manager Lee Johnson said they were good value for the points. ‘I don’t think we were ever under threat,’ he said. Stand-in Shrewsbury boss Aaron Wilbraham disagreed. ‘We deserved something,’ he said.

CHARLTON 2 SWINDON 2

CHUKS ANEKE and Andrew Shinnie saved Charlton as they came from two down to earn a draw. Boss Lee Bowyer feels his team are letting too many sides have head-starts. ‘We can’t keep giving teams goals,’ he said. Hallam Hope and Matthew Palmer had put Swindon in control.

CREWE 1 AFC WIMBLEDON 1

GLYN HODGES has backed his Wimbledon players to move clear of relegation trouble. ‘The results haven’t been good enough,’ he said. ‘But they’re a game bunch.’ Joe Pigott’s header for the visitors was cancelled out by Oli Finney.

OXFORD 2 BRISTOL ROVERS 0

MATTY TAYLOR hit a brace against his old club and boss Karl Robinson was quick to salute his two-goal hero. ‘They called him The Snake,’ he said. ‘Well, The Snake was slithering in the box. They couldn’t handle him.’

WIGAN 0 FLEETWOOD 0

LEAM RICHARDSON’S glass was half full after his Wigan side’s draw against Fleetwood. ‘If you’re not going to win, the next best thing is to make sure you don’t lose,’ he said.
