Styles is putting Blues on red alert

-

CALLUM STYLES’ second- half strike put Barnsley into the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in eight years and put Chelsea boss Frank Lampard on red alert.

Victory for Lampard’s side at home to Luton Town today would set up a trip to Oakwell for Chelsea next month — and revive unhappy memories of the Blues’ last FA Cup meeting with the Tykes, when they lost 1-0.

Barnsley boss Valerien Ismael said: ‘I’m just happy that we’ll play at home but the good thing is tomorrow we can sit on the couch and enjoy the Chelsea-Luton game.’

Tim Krul, on his 100th appearance for Norwich, was kept busy throughout for a Canaries side who failed to register a single shot on target. He repelled Cauley Woodrow’s 25-yard strike and then a firm header from Michal Helik.

Styles was Barnsley’s most lively attacking force and he narrowly failed to head in Callum Brittain’s deep cross midway through the first half. However, his breakthrough and matchwinner arrived 11 minutes into the second half.

For Norwich boss Daniel Farke, it was a disappointing afternoon made worse by a hamstring injury to striker Jordan Hugill.

He said: ‘We must also await for the diagnosis but it looks likely he will miss a few games.

‘It was not our best performance, but congratulations to Barnsley. They deserved to win this game.’
