IT TAKES more than good genes to get the sort of glowing complexion that the Duchess of Cambridge always displays.

So perhaps it’s unsurprising that radiant Kate, who champions the health benefits of getting fresh air into the lungs, chose the great outdoors for her first public selfie.

The 39-year-old filmed herself for a special video message to launch Children’s Mental Health Week while jogging in the countryside.

Wearing a £160 navy quilted Barbour jacket and navy woolly hat, she said: ‘ This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is all about expressing yourself – about finding creative ways in which to share your thoughts, ideas and feelings.

‘So whether that’s through photography, through art, through drama, through music or poetry – it’s finding those things that make you feel good about yourself.’

Speaking without notes and looking directly into her phone during a

‘Look after yourself in these challenging times’

break in her run near the Cambridge family home at Anmer, Norfolk, the mother-of-three also urged parents and carers to take care of their own mental wellbeing.

‘This is a hugely challenging time for us all so please look after yourself too,’ she said.

‘Find ways in which to share your thoughts and your feelings or find someone to talk to because we really do need to be the very best versions of ourselves for the children in our care.’

Kate usually records a video message each year to support Children’s Mental Health Week – which starts tomorrow – but this was decidedly less formal and the first time she has taken a picture or video of herself to be made public.

It will be on Kensington Palace social media sites from today.

In a video call with parents last week, Kate admitted home-schooling had left her ‘exhausted’.
