Dustin Hoffman made his directorial debut with this comedy-drama. Three former singers prepare for a concert to raise money for the home for retired performers in which they live. The trio becomes a quartet (Billy Connolly, Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay and Pauline Collins, above) with the arrival of a new resident.
