Adrian Dunbar’s Coastal Ireland

Channel 5, 8pm Adrian Dunbar (right), best known as Supt Ted Hastings in Line Of Duty – journeys back to his native Ireland and explores the beauty to be found all along its coast in what will ultimately be a 600-mile journey for this new two-part series.

While the first leg this week ends up in Co Sligo, Dunbar is starting out at the westernmost point of the island: Mizen Head in Co Cork, battered by the savage swells of the Atlantic and the last land sailors would see before crossing the ocean.

Along the way he catches up with an old friend, the photographer John Minihan, meets a silver-haired surfer, and pays his respects to W.B. Yeats at the poet’s grave.

The tourist board won’t be complaining but Dunbar is a restlessly curious traveller and always a companionable friend for the viewer.
