Another innocent hero is cancelled

-

In response to your article about Disney banning under-sevens from watching ‘racist’ Peter Pan, Dumbo and Aristocats, I feel the world is trying desperately to find negativity, racism and prejudice in what has always been innocent.

I am sure that the underseven population would not know the true meaning of racism, and if they did indeed pick up on the term ‘redskins’ as a link to Native American tribes, they would no doubt realise this was a historical term that is no longer in use.

Well done Disney – these cartoons are old-fashioned, outdated and some are offensive. This is 2021, not the 1950s, and people need to realise that.

I cannot believe that these stories, which have been entertaining children of all ages for many years, are suddenly politically incorrect. Children do not look at race, creed or colour – they just enjoy what is shown.

Rose Elsdon, Ontario

I wonder whether any of the ‘offended’ races were consulted on how offended they were. When is this nonsense going to stop?
