DIDN’T BEING PM USED TO BE A BIT MORE DIGNIFIED!

-

SPORTING protective masks, gloves and a hairnet, Boris Johnson yesterday offered an awkward elbow to workers who are helping in the battle against coronavirus.

The Prime Minister met staff at three plants in the North-East of England who are involved in the development and production of vaccines, coronavirus tests and personal protective equipment. He hailed the 850-strong workforce at the Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies plant in Billingham, Teesside, which is scheduled to produce millions of doses of the Novavax vaccine if it passes trial stages.

Mr Johnson said: ‘The work of the team here to get this vaccine ready showcases some of the

very best of British science and manufacturing.’ The PM later gave elbow greetings to staff at Newcastle-based d QuantuMDx Group, which has developed a 30-minute coronavirus testing device, known as Q-POC.

The firm claims the innovation offers lateral flow test wait times with laboratory- standard accuracy, and the device will help to ensure the safety of frontline staff.
