Julie Walters reprised her stage role in the big-screen version of Willy Russell’s hit play and was rewarded with an Oscar nomination – as was her co-star Michael Caine (above, with Walters). It’s the tale of a hairdresser who enrols on an Open University course in English Literature and finds her new tutor is a cynical, hard-drinking poet.
