Powell, brought to the club by Luton’s former City chief Nathan Jones, struck in the 20th and 63rd minutes with Steven Fletcher netting a third. ‘We have got to continue this momentum,’ O’Neill said. ‘Momentum is a word used as lot in football. We have a chance to build on this result.’

Jones added: ‘When you come back to your old club you really want your players to step up and battle. But we were miles off.’
