ATLETICO

-

Madrid’s La Liga wobble continues as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Levante just three days before facing Chelsea in the Champions League.

Diego Simeone’s side remain top, but their lead has been whittled down by a run that has seen them pick up just five points from their last four games.

Levante took the lead on the half hour when Jose Luis Morales scored his 11th goal of the season — it was the seventh straight match that Atletico had conceded.

The second half started badly for Atletico with defender Jose Gimenez going off injured. Simeone’s response was to switch from a back three to a back four, and their best spell in the game followed.

However, they pushed forward recklessly and were punished. Keeper Jan Oblak went up for the last corner, but the ball fell to Levante’s Jorge de Frutos who scored into an empty net.
