THE advice on buying a vehicle second-hand from a private seller is to hold off until it is deemed safe – at least April 12.

An alternative is to use an online second-hand car dealership where you can buy a vehicle without getting off the sofa – and it will be delivered to you for free. Dealerships include Cazoo, BuyaCar, cinch and Auto Trader.

Cazoo offers a seven-day moneyback guarantee under which the car will be collected for free if you are not happy with it.

BuyaCar and cinch both offer a 14- day money back guarantee. Cinch also does ‘ free’ drop- off and pick-up but BuyaCar usually charges £239 for delivery or return.

Auto Trader provides details of local dealerships and individuals in your area with a vehicle to sell. It is up to you to discuss the terms – though home delivery is now commonly offered.
